Love Love Love this granola. I have been eating it almost daily for the past year. I have yet to get tired of it. I love it for breakfast with some milk and dried cherries. My son loves it and my spouse eats it with her yogurt. I just went and boughht 3 more boxes from Sam’s Club so I don’t run out. I will be checking out Amazon’s subscribe and save since I have seen others comment on that. Yummy granola delivered right to my front door- what could be better! I can’t wait to try these recipes also, glad I stopped by the website.

Add us to the long list of people interested in a gluten free version of this product! We love your products and having been buying them for years, but since my husband was diagnosed with Celiac, we do’t get this as much. I also agree with some of the comments from other posters about sugar. I like sweetened cereal, but always felt this was a little too sweet, especially for my kiddos. Much easier to add sugar for those who want a little more than take it out.

Submitted by Itziar on April 12, 2012 - 17:47.
Hi there - Thank you for contacting us about this very important issue. Because arsenic is a naturally occurring element in our environment, it is present in water, air and soil. It can be found in plants, like apple trees, whether they are grown organically or conventionally. As a result – arsenic is found in all food products. There are currently no acceptable standards for arsenic levels in food. Nature’s Path agrees and is working with the Organic Trade Association (OTA) to encourage the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to set and enforce regulatory limits on arsenic in our food supply. We are working with third party laboratories to independently test our products. As a USDA certified organic and Non-GMO Project Verified company, we firmly believe we are providing you with the highest quality food held to the strictest standards possible in today’s environment. Hello,
My kids love your granola that we purchase from the bulk bins at our local health food store. We have purchased them for years but the more I learn the more concerns I have. I am concerned with 2 things in particular. #1 is the amount of sugar in the products. Do you have any plans for a lower sugar product perhaps containing coconut nectar, coconut sugar, Birch Sap xylitol or stevia? #2 Why do you use soy oil? Do you use it just because it is cheap? I have heard that soy is so contaminated with GMOs now that even certified organic soy is contaminated. Other concerns with the soy oil would be that it is most probably a highly processed, refined, deodorized product = trans fat as opposed to an unrefined, cold pressed, virgin oil. Do you have any plans to upgrade the oil that you use in your products?

Hi Maureen,
Have you ever considered making your own granola? It takes less than 10 minutes to mix together and another 35-40 in the oven. Then you could have complete control over the amount of sugar and soy oil if you’re that concerned with how much sugar your kids are consuming.

Hi Maureen – Thanks for getting in touch and for asking us your questions. At Nature’s Path we’re committed to producing quality organic foods, using the best ingredients available. The soy oil used in this product is organic expeller pressed, cold pressed pure oil extracted from soy bean. Expeller pressed oil may have traces of soy protein, which highly refined oils do not have. Soy proteins are high quality proteins that contain all the essential amino acids in appropriate ratios needed for human growth and body maintenance. Soy also provides many positive benefits for the many vegetarians who eat Nature’s Path products & require the protein that soy provides. We understand that an increased number of people are searching for sugar free and low sugar options to include in their diet. Our product development team is working hard to develop new products that meet these criteria; in the meantime I’ve passed on your comments to the Brand Manager. Please feel free to browse other products here: http://www.naturespath.com/products as we have over 80 products at a variety of sweetness levels for you to choose from. Take care, Itziar

Hi Janice – Thanks for sharing your comment and for taking a deeper interest in your food. Our Pumpkin Flax Plus Granola is not gluten free due to the oats and the possibility of cross contamination with wheat either in the field or in the milling process. At this time in North America, most oats are not acceptable in a gluten free diet and organic gluten free oats are not yet available in the quantities we require for our products. We will definitely consider using gluten-free oats in the future when they become more readily available. Check out our gluten free product list here: http://www.naturespath.com/eat-well/gluten-free-celiac-diet I would suggest you try our Mesa Sunrise and Sunrise Crunchy Vanilla cereals! Hi Tone - At Nature’s Path we believe that the healthiest foods are made with good quality organic ingredients that fuel you with nutritious chemical-free calories and good-for-you fats like omega rich pumpkin and flax seeds. Oftentimes ‘low-calorie’, ‘low-fat’ processed foods sacrifice nutrition and contain chemicals to enhance flavor (similar to the ‘candy cereals’ you reference above). That said, we realize that everyone has different dietary needs, if Pumpkin Flax Granola is not a fit for your needs, I would suggest you try our Flax Plus Multibran Flakes, Heritage Flakes, or our Multigrain Oatbran Cereal. Hi Jennifer – We’re glad to hear you really like our products! Rest assured, as our products are certified organic by the Canada Food Inspection Agency in Canada and by the USDA in the US, our foods have been cultivated and processed in a more ecologically sustainable way. The regulatory requirements needed to obtain this certification requires that our products are do not use: Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO)/ Genetically Engineered (GE) ingredients, artificial preservatives, artificial colors, artificial flavors or additives and that our ingredients are not grown with toxic pesticides, chemical or petroleum based fertilizers or fumigants. All of our GF products have been certified Gluten-Free by the Gluten-Free Certification Organization (www.gfco.org) which is the highest quality certification available today. Our Nature’s Path products are only labeled as gluten-free IF they meet the GFCO standards. Submitted by Justine (not verified) on January 30, 2012 - 15:11.
Hi Peter and thanks for taking the time to ask us this question! The hull hasn’t been removed from the flax used in our products. Some of our products contain whole flax seeds (listed as organic flaxseeds in the ingredients) and some contain a combination of ground and whole flaxseeds (listed as organic flax in the ingredients).
The reason they aren’t all fully ground or crushed because they go rancid very quickly without refrigeration or the use of preservatives. However, some of the seeds do actually get ground up by the cereal manufacturing process to make more nutrients available and some of the seeds that are attached to flakes will be broken by the teeth to make some of the nutrients available to you. A selection of Nature’s Path cereals such as Flax Multibran Flakes do use a combination of whole and ground flax but they therefore only have a shelf life of 6 months; not practical for some of our other flax products such as the Flax Granola.
At this time there isn’t a better solution to the problem unless we use preservatives and we won’t do that because we make organic products. Whole flax seeds do also provide valuable fibre benefits. If you’d like to include ground flaxseed in your diet, what I’d suggest is picking up a bag of our FlaxPlus Flaxseed Meal and adding a tablespoon of that to your cereal, baking, etc (it’s uses are endless!). Just be sure to refrigerate the bag and you’re good to go! Take care, Justine, Nature’s Path Team

Hello. My whole family loves the Flax Plus Pumpkin and ate it for a couple of years. However, only two of us can eat it now. Last year we discovered our son is significantly sensitive to gluten. I recently tried your cereal again for him, and he had a bad gluten reaction. I was so sad! We love your cereal because it’s not too hard and crunchy. The oats and their syrup solids really do pick up the gluten, unfortunately. Other “gluten-free” brands out there just don’t come close to Nature’s Path when it comes to granola-types of products. I really hope you will work hard to acquire contracts for enough gluten-free oats to at least produce one product with them. If Bob’s Red Mill and Udi’s can do it, I encourage you to research some more!

Hi Amy and thanks for sharing your input with us. We totally get that people are looking for yummy, oragnic, gluten-free options such as an organic gluten-free granola. I’ll be sure to pass this info along to the Brand Manager and to our Research and Development Team. From my understanding upon reviewing their website, Udi’s Gluten-Free doesn’t make organic granola. After looking at Bob’s Red Mill website, it appears that while they make organic oats and they make gluten-free oats, they don’t make oats that are BOTH organic AND gluten-free. Am I correct? If so, Perhaps they are experiencing the same trouble in the supply chain as we are. Rest assured, we’re all about offering awesome gluten-free options, so when it becomes available we’ll be all over that. Take care, Justine, Nature’s Path Team
